WELL DONE TAMKIN AND MICHAEL

13/11/2007

Warm Greetings

I wanted to share my experience about the great Dinner with the Experts event held at the Long Acre in Leicester square that I attended last night. Tamkin and Michael did a wonderful job inviting some great experts, I remember some names like Rod Thomas talking about property investment, Alistair Cooper about the planning Game, Geoff Alexander about Internet Marketing, Roxi about spread betting and the list goes on.

We had around 40 people, including the 10 experts. I had the chance to speak to a nice lady in the name of Raksha Kukadia who is a management consultant; Ben had some great projects in France for which I wish him good luck. Asheley who is a personal development coach was another great person to talk to; she and her daughter have some projects in the pipeline which will definitely get their name out there.

It was supposed to be an open buffet style dinner and everybody was definitely very hungry by the time food was served. That was my opinion as I could not see any food being brought on the table staying there for a long time. Specially being vegetarian, there was a very limited amount of food that I could eat and I was struggling to get hold of any. Luckily, some very kind friends alerted me when the barman brought any new “vegetarian” plates.

Now, comes the joke of the night!!! This gentleman comes with a big plate and puts it on the table where vegetarian people should be eating. I noticed he was struggling to speak/understand English. I asked him if the food he just brought was vegetarian(it didn’t look to me), he thought for 2 seconds and looking a bit confused said yes, this is vegetarian. He showed me the plate; I was definitely convinced that there was some communication problem here. He was still explaining and just added; yes everything on this plate is vegetarian except for the pieces of pork. *sighs*. Poor me, I had to contemplate two tomato skewers and a cheese cake for desert, that was for the GBP 20 pounds I paid I guess, anyway can’t complain.

I got the opportunity to make some friends and get some potential business contacts and most importantly, later we went to have a nice dinner at Mirch Masala. I would say it wasn’t too much of a waste; I had a good night out after quite a long time.

Next event with Tamkin will be the London Club Entrepreneur event on the 12th of December; I expect more luck with the food then!

Thanks again for coming back to read.

Take good care and be happy (and wealthy like would say Tamkin).

The People`s World

Wednesday 25th of October 2007

I went to this seminar today, where a gentleman under the name of Theo was presenting a very exciting project.

A unified platform where people would be able to do social networking, buy and sell online, talk via a voice over IP platform, a media platform, he mentioned a new application which links Skype with Msn, yahoo etc( which surprised me ). His main concept came down to the idea of sharing wealth created from the platform among the users, shareholders, stakeholders and NGOs.

He said that he has been developing this system for the past eight years and has raised more than 850k from private investors. He also mentioned that he had used of it until now and he needed money to carry on developing the website. He mentioned various celebrities that were in a way associated to that project (one of his selling points). Theo was selling one share at around GBP 7500 and had only 10 left to sell.

I asked him a few questions, but I was flabbergasted when he answered this one; what are the main risks of this project? “That we never go live”. I would not have liked to hear that if I had invested in the project.

Anyway, I had the chance to chat to some of the shareholders (poor them) who were all very impatient to see the project finally online. They have been waiting for it for years and years, some since 2007. They all seemed very much anxious with the way things were moving (I would have been too), one of them had invested 50k and brought his friends to invest as well. Some of these people even borrowed money to “loan” to this company which after eight years has still not come to a delivery point.

The lesson I learnt in all this is that I was experiencing how naïve people could be while investor such amount of money, in a project that seems so risky to me. Did they not ask the same question that I asked?

Whatever business you do, there is always a risk factor. If you assess the risks at the very beginning, at least you would know what you are liable to lose.

Marketing and Myself

Wednesday 24th of October 2007

To all Readers:

A warm welcome to my blog, which I just decided to start;

There are various things that I do in life. Business takes a major part of my time (wish to change). Among all, SEO is one of the things that I am particularly interested at the moment (subject to the dynamics of the mind).

My research has proven to be quite fruitful as I have a learned quite a lot of things that I want to share with you, many of which that you might already know about.

One of the sites that I have own is www.arkisdata.co.uk which ranks quite well on google for keywords, Mainpine, analog fax cards, analog fax boards as I sell these on website. To be honest with I did not do much effort with this, but it makes me think why and how it happened.

The basic things that I have paid particular attention to are; the title contains the keywords, I have made sure that I do use the keywords in the body as little as possible. And I have links with Mainpine.com which I believe plays a major role in the good ranking. I have also done site submissions to directories as usual.

At the moment, hundred percent of the business that I get for Mainpine card is from organic* search.(Organic search is the listing that naturally comes up on Google when you search for a particular keyword. As opposed to Google adwords which come on the right hand site or top of the page.)

All in all, I will be writing soon to tell you about more findings in the SEO area. You are always welcome to share your views and comments here, questions are more than welcome.

Willing to make a difference, by adding Value.
